California is minus one more company that is relocating its global headquarters to downtown Dallas.
San Diego-based Active Network announced Thursday that it will bring 1,000 jobs to Dallas as part of the move, which will begin immediately and continue through 2015.
Active already has an office in Irving.
“With the creation of a state-of-the-art global headquarters, Active Network will strengthen our ability to drive innovation, share best practices, and support our culture of excellence,” Active Network CEODarko Dejanovic said in a release.
“We see Dallas as an opportunity to centralize our location as we expand globally, recruit great talent, and increase our operational excellence," Dejanovic said. "We look forward to working with the City of Dallas, Dallas Regional Chamber, and the State of Texas in building the next chapter in our company’s history.”
Active Network is a provider of activity and participant management with 47,000 customers worldwide. Its SaaS technology streamlines activity and event administration, Active said.
“Thanks to a solid partnership with the Texas Enterprise Fund and Governor’s Office of Economic Development, the City of Dallas was able to recruit an outstanding company that is making a considerable commitment to both Dallas and Texas,” Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings said in a statement. “ACTIVE Network will be a welcome member to our growing economy that is creating many highly skilled technology jobs.”
It's the latest relocation announcement benefiting North Texas to California's detriment.
The biggest catch was Toyota, which a nnounced in May that it would move its North American headquarters from Torrance, California, to Plano.
MonkeySports Inc. announced in April that it would move its headquarters from Corona, California, to Allen.
Ameriflight, a cargo air carrier, announced in May that it would relocate from Burbank, California, to Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport.
