On September 30, 2015 the US Congress acted to approve an extension of the EB-5 Regional Center Program through December 11, 2015. Congress approved the extension as part of its continuing resolution, legislation to fund the Federal Government of the United States. The US Senate approved the measure on Wednesday morning, and the US House of Representatives approved the measure in the afternoon. Now, it will be sent to the President for his signature.
We expect the US Congress to attempt to pass several notable changes to the program, including a potential raise of the investment amount from $500,000 to $800,000.
In addition to an extension for the EB-5 Regional Center Program, the funding bill also contains extensions for the E-Verify (system for US businesses to determine the employment eligibility of their employees), Conrad State 30 (J1 visa waiver program for physicians), and Non-Minister Religious Worker programs.
